It is important to know why you read slowly. You were taught to read by a slow reader and, over the years, you have collected many bad reading habits.

Regression - Re-reading the same information many time over.

Sub-vocalization - Saying the words silently to yourself while you read. 

Low concentration - Your mind wanders often while you read.

Word by word - Focusing your eyes on one word at a time, moving one space and focussing on next word.

Skimming - Skipping words because you feel you are running out of reading time.

Word reversal - Reading the words in the wrong order.

Poor memory - Quickly forgetting the information that you have read.
